Course Description
Geometry is a rigorous mathematics course that develops students' understanding of geometric relationships, reasoning, and problem-solving. Students will investigate two-dimensional and three-dimensional figures, develop formal proof techniques, explore transformations and congruence, analyze similarity relationships, apply trigonometric ratios, and calculate area, surface area, and volume. Emphasis is placed on mathematical communication, critical thinking, and real-world applications.
The course follows the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Geometry and utilizes the All Things Algebra Geometry Curriculum. This curriculum is organized into units including Geometry Basics, Logic & Proof, Parallel & Perpendicular Lines, Congruent Triangles, Similar Triangles, Right Triangles & Trigonometry, Polygons & Quadrilaterals, Transformations, Circles, Volume & Surface Area, and Probability.
